Best Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 Memes and Reactions

Tonight's penultimate episode of HBO's Game of Thrones was a doozy. After almost 8 full seasons of waiting for the war for the throne to reach King's Landing, the day was finally upon us. Everything was going so well: Drogon destroyed the Iron Fleet narrowly avoiding the scorpion's arrows, destroyed all the scorpions on the wall and destroyed the Gold Company that had lined up to meet the Unsullied. They were winning. The allied forces had all but won.

When the King's Guard were met in the streets by the invading army of Daenerys, they threw down their swords and called for the bells that signaled a surrender, but Daenerys paid no mind and decided to go full Mad Queen and destroy the entire city. Block by block she flew with Drogon laying waste to every man, woman, child, soldier, friend and foe, before making it to the King's Landing Castle.

Eventually, we see Jaime and Cersei trapped in the Red Keep, trying to make their escape to a boat that Tyrion left for them (right where Jaime, earlier in the episode, killed Euron Greyjoy), only to find their path blocked. We see the lover twins in full embrace as the roof crashed in around them, and the eventually directly on them.

There's so much more to this episode, including Arya's apocalyptic stroll around what's left of King's Landing trying to find a way out, Jon's realization that Dany has gone completely nuts, and Lord Varys getting roasted to a crisp.
