The people who posted these stories are either living in an elaborate delusion Walter Mitty-style, or they're just lying the old-fashioned way to get some attention online. Sometimes they do it for some odd sense of fun, sometimes it's to seem tougher or cooler than they actually are, and other times it's just to push a political belief. But every time, these people have created a disturbing backstory for themselves or their family members, and not a single person is going to believe that these things actually happened, or happened the way that they claim they did.
