Everyone is guilty of lying once in a while for one reason or another. Maybe it's a valid reason, or maybe it's a stupid one, but it doesn't matter, we have all done it. It's probably best not to let lying become a major part of your life, though. For some, making up stories for online content is like a hobby to them. Sometimes the intent behind them is very clear, it could be to gain a positive internet reputation through likes and shares, it could be to spread some insane message, and other times the intent is completely lost.

Unfortunately for the people behind these lies, they aren't very good at lying in the first place, otherwise their stories would not have ended up on Reddit's sarcastically titled /r/thatHappened. This subreddit is for all of the most obviously fake stories to be shared and shamed. Some of them are just straight-up ridiculous. Here are some of these "totally true" stories.
