Promotional memes can go one of two ways — either they'll stir up interest or they'll make viewers ashamed to be part of the generation they're targeting. Sometimes, the line between the successful and the cringeworthy is thin. But often, it's pretty clear what works. Or, more often than not, what doesn't work. Because there's really a lot of content that these brands shouldn't be making, and it's their favorite thing to put out there.

Somehow, some of these campaigns are successful in drumming up attention. Other times, some promotional and corporate memes missed the mark so badly that we had to share them. They were clearly meant to appeal to teens and young adults, but they were done so wrong that we're pretty sure whatever algorithm came up with them has no idea what a teen or young adult actually is. These are some of our favorite awkward memes sighted in online advertising.
