Cursed images have had an upgrade. Now, oddly terrifying images can make the world look a little (or a lot) scarier in a way their predecessors never could. The world is a horrifying place, and these images from mundane life accurately capture how frightening the world can be. Except, they weren't exactly meant to do that. They shouldn't actually be scary at all, honestly.

None of these things were meant to be scary at all. Unfortunately (or fortunately), they're pretty unnerving somehow, and they're honestly hard to even look at. Why do these things exist? Why are they so incredibly upsetting to look at? Who knows. Humanity and nature alike have a lot of explaining to do for creating these things. Oddly terrifying images might be freaky, but they're also pretty addictive, and you can't help but keep looking. They revolve around some things we encounter in everyday life but never really consider, and it's hard to explain why they're so scary. You'll just have to see for yourself.

Regarding the uncanny valley, I think the prevailing theory is it helps motivate avoiding dead bodies (and thereby disease).
