My friend Alec sends me images, and I send Alec images. We live far apart from each other and have for many years. I think everybody has friendships like this, and modern technology makes them possible: we all have cameras on our phones to capture what’s around us, and we all have memes on our scrolls to DM to our friends in foreign lands.

Looking back over the images we’ve exchanged, I realize that in some disjointed, honest way these images are a slice of life. They show what’s happened over the past few years. I think one of the wonderful things about the modern world is how we record so much more of our lives than humans did in the past, and not just the parts that seem significant. I have a stockpile of every useless, random interaction with each of my friends over the past decade. He’s given his permission for you to see these images. Now I present to you, with no context, 15 images my friend Alec sent me.
