A few weeks ago, Reddit u/ctsom posted "What was a house rule you had as a kid that you thought was completely normal until you grew up and realized not all households followed?" to /r/AskReddit. As one can imagine, the replies included a mixture of people living with both strict and laid-back parents who enforced rare rules that other families didn't usually follow. We have family council on Sundays too, same with the "no curfew" thing(for me at least, my sister is 9 and has a curfew but when she turns 13 she won't have it)

Some of these are perfectly reasonable. Especially the no TV one.

My siblings and I fought using baseball bats, which was ok so long as we wore enough clothing to pad the hits. I preferred an aluminum bat for precision handling to ward off illegal headshots, my brother had a tougher time moving so he wielded a hefty maple to make his hits really count. Our younger sisters roflstomped us with absurdly fast wiffleball bats.
