There is a certain genre of meme that is quite interesting, and gives a whole new meaning to many memes out there. Edited memes take a normal meme and block out some of the words to rebirth it into something totally new and fresh, usually something that resembles an anti-meme. This can also be done with news headlines and articles, taking the original, serious topic and turning into something totally silly, just for the laughs.

There is a subreddit on Reddit called /r/SpeedOfLobsters, which features many of these edited memes turned into anti-memes. The name of the subreddit is inspired by one of the originally popular edited memes. This particular meme was created from a Drake and Josh scene where Josh says "I do not control the speed at which lobsters die." This quote in turn was made into a meme that generally features the additional quote "when someone asks if you control the speed at which lobsters die." Thus, the strange and specific subreddit was born.

If the concept of these memes still seems confusing, there's no need to worry. Here are 14 edited memes from /r/SpeedOfLobsters that show that with a little creativity and thought, something new and fresh can come from anything.
