Elon Musk's Twitter acquisition is already getting pretty weird. Lately, users of the platform have been watching from afar as Elon makes drastic changes, including firing a large number of staff members and revamping the platform in ways we didn't expect. His Twitter has been a pretty interesting thing to follow the past week, and at times, he's coming up with some pretty controversial new statements and changes to the platform.

One of the new plans he has in mind is to make users pay for the blue checkmark on Twitter that verifies numerous celebrity and politician accounts. We're not really sure how this is going to work, but there's already been an uproar about how exactly this is to be enacted and what's going to happen to the current blue checkmark folks. He also claims he'll be banning parody accounts that aren't labeled as such, which kind of makes it look like he's after the Elon Musk parody accounts specifically. Here are some memes from a wild week on Twitter.

Someone Had His Feelings Hurt

I wonder which fake Elon account (of many) did this.

I Bet He Didn’t Like This One Either

No One Wants to Pay for It

This has been one of Elon's more controversial moves. Mostly because the check mark is not something most people are willing to pay for.

I Wonder

There's simply no other explanation.

$4 Million a Day Loss

Loss fits well for lots of situations, but this is definitely one of the best uses of the meme format.

It’s Not Helping

The Few of Us Who Know Best

!

I wish I didn't care.

Mad with Power

Slow down, Elon. Twitter is okay without a paywall for the blue checkmark.

RIP

“Fix”

Please don't try to fix more things, Elon.
