The huge game company Square Enix shocked many of us today with a strange announcement. It essentially sold many of its popular games (like Tomb Raider and Deus Ex) to Embracer, and not for a merger or anything rational like that. Instead, they sold them for profit, and they proudly took to social media to explain why. Apparently, they plan on using the money to establish a blockchain presence. Though they weren't much more specific than that, this gives us two possibilities.

First, the gaming company is now getting into the crypto scene, probably starting their own token linked to their games. Second, they're getting into the NFT scene. Neither one is being well-recieved, mostly because we can't wrap our minds around real, tangible money from some of the biggest games ever being used for…this.
