It's Cinco de Mayo. Whether you know what this holiday is about or not (no, it's not Mexican Independence Day), you're probably out celebrating. It's one of the biggest days of the year for drinking, partying and general disrespect of Mexican culture, the latter of which you hopefully won't be taking part in. Cinco de Mayo is an important holiday for those of Mexican heritage because it celebrates the unlikely victory of the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

In Mexico, people do celebrate, but few people seem to party as hard as the white people in America, who really need to calm down, especially since they don't know what they're celebrating most of the time. But whatever's fun is fun, and whether you're out getting super drunk tonight or you're just reposting that image of a jar of mayonnaise in a kitchen sink that's captioned "sink-o de mayo," we're happy you're celebrating, as long as you're doing it respectfully and you don't die from drinking too much tequila tonight. Be safe, have fun and take a look at some memes about the holiday here.

Gringos: Happy 5 de Mayo! I guess everyone in Mexico is partying hard like we do

Mexicans: Yeah, it was something, but not that great either. A quien chingados le importa? Ok, maybe just the Pueblans, but that's just them. It's not that big of a deal.

It's celebrated the same way Americans celebrate Labor Day. Mexican Independence Day is in September.
